Former New York Yankees Star Brett Gardner and his wife Jessica announced the heartbreaking death of their son Miller on Sunday. He was 14 years old.
The Gardners said in a statement by the team that Miller died on Friday fall ill During vacation. The parents said that other family members also became sick. They said they were looking for answers.

“With heavy hearts we are sad to announce the death of our youngest son, Miller. He was 14 years old and left us far too quickly after he got sick, along with various other family members during vacation,” was their statement. “We currently have so many questions and so few answers, but we do know that he died peacefully in his sleep on the morning of Friday, March 21.
“Miller was a beloved son and brother and we can’t understand our lives without his infectious smile. He loved football, baseball, golf, hunting, fishing, his family and his friends. He fully lived every day.”
The Gardner family thanked those who have shown support for them and asked for privacy.

The Yankees also published a statement about Miller’s death.
“Our hearts are tough and the Yankees family is filled with grief after learning the death of Miller Gardner,” the team said. “Words feel insignificant and insufficiently trying to describe such an unimaginable loss. It was not only Brett who literally grew up in this organization for more than 17 years – his wife, Jessica, and their two boys, Hunter and Miller.”
“We mourn with Brett, Jessica, Hunter and their community of family and friends to mourn the loss of Miller, who had a spark in his eyes, an extrovert and spicy personality and a warm and loving nature.
“Our love for the Gardner family is unconditional and absolute, and we will offer our lasting support, while we are currently understanding their desire for privacy.”
It is unclear where the Gardner family is on vacation.

Gardner was an outfielder for the Yankees for 14 seasons and was in the team when they won their last World Series Title in 2009.

He retired after the 2021 season and has since been away from baseball.
