Bill Hader had a very good reason for not attending the 2025 Golden Globes. with his girlfriend Ali Wong.

“Bill was unable to attend the Globes due to an existing eye condition that worsened and he was advised by his doctor to stay home and rest,” Hader’s rep said people on Friday, January 10. “He and Ali are still together.”

Hader, 46, and Wong, 41, sparked split rumors after the comedian attended the awards show last weekend without Hader by her side. While Wong walked the red carpet solo, she ended up bringing a close friend as her plus one.

“My best friend is here! Mia, thank you so much for all your love and support over the years,” Wong said during her speech. “It means a lot. Thank you very much.”

At last year’s Golden Globes, Hader was next to Wong when she won for Best Performance by an Actress in a Limited Series, Anthology Series or a Motion Picture Made for Television for her role as Amy Lau on the Netflix show beef in 2024 Although Wong did not mention Hader in her speech at the time, the couple celebrated her achievement with sharing a sweet kiss and lots of hugs.

Wong and Hader were first linked in 2022. after her breakup with Justin Hakuta. Wong and Hader split briefly later that year, but Us Weekly confirmed in April 2023 that they rekindled their romance.

In her already award-winning stand-up special, Wong joked about how she and Hader gathered together.

“Hey Ali, I just happened to hear the news of your divorce today and I have to tell you…I’m thrilled,” she recalled Hader telling her in a phone call after getting her number from a mutual friend. “I am, Ally, because look, I’ve been in love with you forever, and I actually told my best friend years ago that you’re my dream girl. And I know this sounds crazy, but I want you to be my girlfriend.

Wong said that while she was on tour in Europe, Hader followed up by sending her flowers in multiple cities. While her friends thought the gesture was “so sweet”, her friends warned her that Hader might be a “psychopath”.

“That’s how cheap and lazy men have become,” quips Wong. “That now, when another person performs some act of kindness, some romantic gesture, it must be a symptom of undiagnosed mental illness.”
