‘We have 10 finals’ – Guardiola in Manchester City match for the Champions League

Pep Guardiola admits that the Manchester City side has “10 finals” if they want to qualify for the Champions League next season.

Speaking after the city’s 1-0 defeat to top four Nottingham Forest opponents on Saturday, Guardiola said his team had to start winning games to stay in dispute over Europe’s Elite Club competition.

With 10 league games to play, City is currently in fourth place, just a point in front of Chelsea and Brighton and four points behind the forest.

The city’s boss believed that his team dominated the game against the team of Nuno Espirito Santo, but said that the waste of occupation is slowly costing its side.

“It was a tight game. We checked the transitions very well. We created a lot of chances, but we defended very well,” Guardiola told Tnt Sports.

“But in the end we lost a transition. We lost the easy ball and scoring.

“They started very well and we couldn’t find the exact (finished) at the last minute.

“We have 10 games to qualify. You have to win games to qualify (for the Champions League). And we will go to the next.”

Guardiola also believes that the championship is becoming more and more competitive every year and recognizes the work that its players have now until the end of the season.

“We knew it before we arrived that the Premier League every season is better and better,” Guardiola added.

“We have 10 finals and the next we start.”

The city is then in action when they host Brighton on Saturday.
