Tyrone Mings was one of Aston Villa’s heroes at Club Brugge last night, his incredible clearance completing the “unfinished business” from his visit to Belgium earlier during the season.
Villa lost 1-0 to Jan BreyDelstadion in the Champions League team in November with Mings giving away the penalty that won the match after a devastating involvement with goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez.
But he was excellent in their return to Bruges, as Villa won the first leg of the 16 playoffs 3-1.
Incredible clearing from Mings Sets Villa Up for Late Win
He issued especially with a second six-month clearance that somehow prevented a header from Hans Vanaken from finding the corner with the game gently at 1-1.

Mings said: “I was more than happy to go back here and play again on this stadium because I think we had endless businesses.
“I’m very proud of what we did tonight. I really liked this game. We played against them (in the championship phase) and I knew a little bit what to expect.
“The game was just as we expected. We can be proud of both our defender and the game that attacks.”
Mings was also effective at the other end with a header that allowed Leon Bailey to give Villa an early lead.
Maxim de Cuyper was leveled, but a late target by Brandon Mechele and a sentence of Marco Asensio handed over UNAI EMERY a powerful advantage to get back to Birmingham for the return game next week.
Emery greets wonderfully.
Villa’s boss stood out for praise afterwards, saying: “The first experience he had here was not good.
“Today, he reacted fantastic, playing focused and serious, saving an action that would be targeted. We demand inside. Every player must require with himself.
“I know the difficulties of football and how we can get experiences and improve. This is my only goal with players.
“We fixed some things from the match we played here (in November). Of course, we have to fix some things that didn’t work well today for the next match against Brugge.”
