On day 2 of the second test between West Indies and Bangladesh at Sabina Park, Kingston, Jamaica, Aliki Athanaze left cricket fans in awe with a brilliant catch to dismiss Bangladesh Taskin Ahmed.
A remarkable display of sportsmanship from Alick Athanaze
The moment came during the 70th over of Bangladesh’s first innings when the West Indies right-arm medium pacer Jayden Seales bowled a short length outside off stump. Taskin attempted a pull shot, only to create a top-edge. Wicketkeeper Joshua Da Silva leapt into action, stretching full length to his right and managing to catch the ball in mid-air. Athanazis, who was nearby, reacted instantly, diving to his right and completing a juggling catch with precision. The effort was a testament to incredible teamwork, quick reflexes and athleticism. Taskin was dismissed for 8 runs, which included a solitary boundary.
