Virginia University is voting to remove the Dei office


The Board of Visitors of the University of Virginia voted on Friday to close her Diversity, fairness and inclusion (Dei) Office after the executive orders of President Trump against dei efforts in the federal government.

“Dei is ready at UVA,” Virginia Gov. Glenn Youngkin wrote on X Friday. “Today, the Board of Vision of the University of Virginia voted for common sense that NO said no to illegal discrimination and yes to merit opportunities. Students at the University of Mr. Jefferson and Throughout America-Hebben Unlimited Intellectual Freedom, not ideological gatekeeping.”

The university’s board consists of 17 members appointed by the Governor.

“This is a huge step to restore the values ​​of Mr Jefferson, who founded the University, who understood that we were all created equally, and that is exactly what this is about ending illegal discrimination and the repair of earnings-based opportunity,” said Youngkin on “Ingraham Angle” Friday.

The resolution said that the “Office of Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Community Partnerships are dissolved”, adding the school “Immediately transferred permitted programs to a new organizational home.”

The resolution did not specify what would count as a “allowed” program.

The resolution added that the President of the University would update the board for compliance within 30 days.

The board mentioned the mission statement of the university, which “includes an obligation to (develop) the full potential of talented students from all walks of life in its resolution.

It was by saying that the board “greatly appreciates, including diversity of thinking and experiences, and promotes an inclusive environment, encourages an opportunity culture for everyone, which enormously enriches our site and commits to give every student a training free of discrimination and well -founded in merit.”
