Virat Kohli’s wife Anushka Sharma and children are blamed for the Indian superstar’s downfall

Former Australian national cricket team player Brad Hogg spoke about the issues surrounding Kohli, especially after his failure in the 2024-25 Border-Gavaskar Trophy. He said that the reason behind his poor performances is also the obligations off the field.

Indian National Cricket Team batsman Virat Kohli is struggling to get going with the bat in Test cricket. The leading player averaged well below his standards, and even his place in the team was also under scrutiny, with many calls for him to leave.

Virat Kohli managed just 190 runs in Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25

In the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25, Virat Kohli managed just 190 runs and looked terrible with the bat. He hit a century in the first match, and it looked like he would set the scene on fire, but it was not to be, as he failed miserably in the other 4 games.

Kohli was bowled outside off as Australia’s pacers were all over the place. He averaged 23.75 in the series. Overall in the last 10 tests, the Indian National Cricket Team batsman has scored 392 runs in his last 10 tests at an average of 23.05 which is way below his standards.

He has other obligations off the field which he didn’t have when he was dominating all three formats around the world – Bradd Hogg to Virat Kohli

Brad Hogg, talking about Kohli’s struggles, said that now he has other commitments, which were not there when he was in his prime. He said the off-field drama has caused him to not perform as well at the moment. Speaking in a video he posted on his YouTube channel, he explained:

“And suddenly, he has a family now. He has other commitments off the field that he didn’t have when he was dominating all three formats around the world. So, it’s not just cricket, it’s what happens off the field as well.”

“I think it’s more the off-field drama than the on-field drama more for Virat Kohli. I just think he’s got too much on his plate and that’s probably why he’s not performing as well at the moment.”

There is a lot of pressure on him – Bradd Hogg on Virat Kohli

Brad Hogg added that the amount of cricket Kohli plays has also had an impact on his performances. He pointed out that after the hectic international cricket, he also has to play IPL for RCB. He clarified:

“I think it’s probably more the volume of cricket that’s being played at the moment because you’re trying to play as much as you can for India in all three formats. And then you’ve got the IPL and it extends for a week or two as So.”

“So there is a lot of pressure there too because the owners are spending a lot of money on players in the IPL. Virat Kohli is the leading player in RCB. So, there is a lot of pressure on him there.”
