Van Nistelrooy hits the passive “leicester and urges foxes to” move on “as relegation fears deepen

Rudd Van Nistelrooy was disappointed by Leicester’s passive display that led to a 2-0 defeat to West Ham.

The 19th placed foxes slipped further towards relegation with a Limp screen in East London, with two “easy” goals before the West Ham break had to record the victory that left them five points.

Leicester Under-Fire’s boss told TNT Sports: “The goals you admit are easy goals. It is a reflection of how we played in the first half.

“If you see the difference in the first and second half, how we as a team move forward to push the opponent, play with an urgent need after winning duels, in the first half we waited too much.

“We need to put the opponent under pressure in the right way.”

Leicester ‘Too Passive’

With their relegation opponents Wolves, Ipswich and Southampton who lost this week, Leicester missed the opportunity to benefit and their appearance had no urgency.

Van Nistelrooy added: “We were very passive. We are in a situation where we do not win games and we are in a situation where we are at the bottom three.

“Pressure is on.

“We can’t wait and sit down. This is the situation we are in.”

Leicester did not score in the championship in four games, sending 12 goals to these 2-1 victory over Tottenham.

“If you are playing like this in the first half you are not going to score,” Van Nistelrooy said. “We were not yet close to score. In the second half we were much closer.”

Regarding how the morale holds in their relegation struggle, Foxes’ boss said: “With faith at work, turning around, literally moving forward, he didn’t sit back. That is what we must do.”

Potter was thrilled in West Ham’s potential

West Ham Graham Potter boss praised his professional appearance on his side and said he was excited about the potential of his side.

He said to Tnt Sports: “We were decent in our declaration in the first half, we drove them back, we had good control of the game. Overall it was a professional performance. It’s not fantastic, but we’re happy with two wins, two clear leaves and six points.”

“We knew it about the time of the season but not for so much. I am happy for the players.

“They have worked very hard. Now they have two back-to-back wins that are not easy to Premier League.”

“There are many possibilities. Talent is one thing. The foundations must be fine. Let’s hope they get rewards because talent is not enough in this league.

“You have to keep clean sheets, defend well. Make the ugly side of the game well and the players have done it and have taken their rewards.”
