“I don’t think I will ever stop loving her,” Kevin said when he was asked if he still loves Ruby. “Does that mean that I want to let her back in my life? Let her go back in my children’s life? Absolutely not.”
Prior to Connexions classrooms, Franke led her own parenthood vlog on social media for years, called 8passengers, who represented themselves, her husband and their six children. Her 8 -passengers social media pages generated most of the family’s income when it became popularity. Ruby’s videos shared an intimate picture of the apparently perfect life of her family and had more than 2.5 million subscribers before her downfall.

However, the popularity began to decrease after her eldest son casually admitted in one of the videos she placed on her account that he had slept on a beanbag for seven months as a punishment for his behavior. Hildebrandt came in Ruby’s life after 8 passengers fell apart and the two friends decided to make Connexions classrooms.

Kevin and his eldest son, Chad Franke, speak out for the first time since Ruby was convicted and for the premiere of a new documentary about Ruby’s crimes called “Devil in the Family: The Fall of Ruby Franke.”
The documentary contains clips from Ruby who take her family out in newly excavated video clips that her social media profiles have not achieved.

In one clip, Ruby Chad recommends ‘fake happy’.

“There is a real danger when you, or your family, place your children, on public social media,” he said “GMA.”
In dozens of YouTube videos and social media messages, Franke and Hildebrandt coached parents in calm voices from a living room bench about how they could raise their children in ‘truth’. In a video posted just before their arrests, Hildebrandt said that pain can be a good thing for children of a certain age.
The case has led to discussions about how parenthood and lifestyle blogs often only present a piece of the reality of a person or family, as well as the rights of children to their own privacy if their parent is a social media star.
