‘Unwanted Hitchhiker’ found in the banana shipment of the supermarket ‘A First’


A sloppy surprise discovered in a banana shipping sent a fear through a South New Hampshire supermarket.

A nature conservation officer at the state of New Hampshire Fish and Game responded on Saturday to a report from an “unwanted Hitchhiker” in the market basket in Manchester, according to WMUR and a statement on Facebook.

Conservation Officer Griffin McKeown told WMUR that when responding to the incident he spoke with an employee who seemed to be ‘pretty famous with snakes’.

The call was “a first” for McKeown, he continued. “We have had a few phone calls about surrendering pets from Balpythons and things like that, but never, never (a) toxic snake.”

McKeown also noted that the possession of a toxic snake, apart from the snake with the pig name, is illegal in New Hampshire.
