Luke Humphries came through a real battle with Beau Greaves to complete a tough 10-7 victory and move to the last 32 at the UK Open in Minehead.
Greaves had already created a story in its UK debut, winning its first three matches on the day against Stefan Bellmont, Rhys Griffin and Mickey Mansell to move to the fourth round and searched even more when he got his 2024 world champion.
The World Women’s World Women’s Player launched a spectacular start with 126 and 124 checkouts, helping her at 3-2 in the first break, before Humphries fought back to bring the competition across the square on 5-5.
Greaves managed to move 7-5 ahead with a throw break, but the central moment came to the 15th part when Humphries found his own break to move 8-7 ahead and drive for the first time.
From there, some higher rating from the “cool hand” helped him over the line, Humphries, bringing Greaves back to the stage for some very worthy appreciation from Butlin’s crowd.
“I really liked the game. It was a lot of fun and Beau played amazing,” Humphries said ITV SPORT.
“He’s a fantastic player and she really had to bring the best to me. Ladies’ game has grown massively and is because of her.
“If it were a Premier League game, it would have hit me. It is probably a top 64 player in the world. But you don’t want to put excessive pressure on it.”
Greares Elelf acknowledged that her game fell on the last two legs, but her UK Open debut will only be a positive experience for her career.
“I started well and knew at the end of the match I fell a little. That’s what I work for my game,” he said.
“What experience, playing someone like Luke will only help my game. I just liked to watch him throw.
“It’s a learning curve. I’m happy and I had a good game.”
Humphries will now face close friend Ryan Searle in the fifth round.
Luke kept the show enough by Peter Wright to complete a 10-9 win on a decisive foot to move in the last 32 where he will face Jermaine wattimena.
Wright, the 2017 UK Open champion, won three feet in the 14-Darters to move 3-2 ahead and then found another spell with three tonnes of tonnes in a row, followed by a 12-Pottoi break to get the race all the way.
However, the 18 -year -old world champion stable against the throw and put peaks from 170, taking the first arrow to move on.
Michael van Gerwen kept a delayed match from Dirk Van Duijvenbode to close his point in the fifth round vs. Robert Owen.
With an average of more than 107 in the first session, Van Duijvenbode managed to get right ahead with a 3-2 advantage, but resulting in Van Gerwen from his doubling hook, who saw the world taking six feet in a row to move 7-3 up.
Despite the battle back at 8-7, Van Duijvenbode let himself do too much and Van Gerwen managed to grind the victory 10-8.
Jonny clayton was in imposing form as Gary Anderson was demolished in the main scene of Minehead to create a conflict with Alan South.
Clayton ran into a 4-1 lead, a throw break plus a silky 121 checkout giving “The Ferret” the advantage in a quick meeting.
From there, Welshman fell on an 8-2 advantage, completing the match on the tops for a possible 10-3 victory.
Elsewhere, Gerwyn price was overwhelmed by Connor Scutt In one last leg decisive, Chris dobey defeated Stephen Bunting and King Champion Dimitri van den Bergh It arrived with a 10-6 win over twice open champion of the United Kingdom Raymond Van Barneveld.
