Tyson Fury: “Born A Winner”, Unfazed By Rematch Pressure

Tyson Fury says he will not react with surprise if he beats Oleksandr Usyk in their rematch on Saturday night.

He declares that he was “born a winner” and a win over unified heavyweight champion Usyk (22-0, 14 KOs) would be no different than the other 34 wins he has racked up over the course of his 16-year career.

Let’s hope he’s serious because he’s been partying and eating like crazy since his upset win over Wladimir Klitschko in 2015. The Gypsy King almost 400 lbs and stayed out of the ring for 2 1/2 years, celebrating.

For Fury to react this way, he didn’t think he would be victorious, and he may have doubts that he will raise his hand against Usyk. In other words, when Fury talks, he’s not being real with people.

Was a winner born?

“That’s what I do. earn. I was born a winner and I will die a winner. A couple of wins in between doesn’t mean that much to me,” said Tyson Fury Queensberry Deals when asked what he will do if he beats Oleksandr Usyk on Saturday.

A checkered past

This loss Fury suffered to Usyk should have been #3 on his resume and not his first, as his first fight with John McDermott on September 11th, 2009, was clearly a giveaway decision and his first fight against to Deontay Wilder it should have been a knockout loss. That’s when Fury was out cold in the 12th and counted out by the referee. The match should have been stopped on the spot.

“I think Fury has got it. This is his biggest fight, his comeback. He will never have a bigger fight coming back from defeat,” said Gareth A. Davies talkSport Boxing. “Muhammad Ali came back from defeat to become heavyweight champion. Tyson Fury can do it.

“Fury didn’t hold his long guard for long enough and he can do that in this fight. He hurt Usyk’s body with uppercuts as well, time and time again. He will use all of these. What will Usyk do differently this time? Who knows? Perhaps he will move more and be more elusive, but it will be an exciting, fist-pumping chess match as they move into the 13th round.

“I understand he’s in better shape,” Gareth said of Fury. “He had that cut over his right eye to deal with at the last camp, of course.”

Gareth’s comparison to Ali was a bit much, even for him. If Fury was that kind of talent, he’d have no problem Saturday against Usyk.
