Harry Kane returned after nearly three weeks out with injury as Bayern hosted RB Leipzig on Friday – but Jamal Musiala stole the show by scoring after a minute.
England captain Kane was involved in the opener with a pass to Michael Olise, who set up Musiala for the Germany international’s fourth goal in four games from close range.
Leipzig had gone behind for less than 60 seconds when Lois Openda raced into space and crossed for Benjamin Cesko.
The tie marked the first time in the history of the German top flight that two teams scored in the first two minutes of a match.

Kane injury return
Bundesliga top scorer Kane had missed three league games and one in the Champions League with a hamstring problem and his absence was keenly felt in Bayern’s 2-1 defeat at Mainz on Saturday – their first league defeat since the appointment of Vincent Kompany as coach in May.
However, it didn’t take Kane to restore Bayern’s lead from the start against Leipzig as former Red Bulls midfielder Konrad Leimer completed a one-two with Olisse to put them back in front after 25 minutes.
Leimer’s first league goal of the season was his second in three games, having scored in a 5-1 win at Shakhtar Donetsk in the Champions League on 10 December.
As if inspired by the possibility of calling up their most prolific player once again, Bayern added a third courtesy of Joshua Kimmich.
The German midfielder struck from 25 yards in the 36th minute, ending his more than a year’s wait for a league goal in spectacular fashion.

Bayern vs Leipzig
Kane has 19 goals in 17 Bundesliga and Champions League games in 2024/25, but the 31-year-old perhaps showed his rust from a good chance three minutes later, curling an uncharacteristically tame effort that was usually claimed by goalkeeper Peter Gulaci.
Bayern started the night four points clear of second-placed Bayer Leverkusen with a far greater goal difference after 14 matches for both teams.
Marco Rose’s Leipzig had won their last two league games and knew victory would send them second, three points behind Bayern.
