Tuchel gives England blunt evaluation … but “loves” Lewis-skelly

Thomas Tuchel said he wanted “more impact” than his wings on a 2-0 victory over Albania In his first game that left Gareth Southgate’s permanent successor.

Marcus Rashford and Phil Foden started as broad players in England for their original game 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifications campaign In Wembley Stadium, both England’s goals came from central positions as they saw the opponents who threw 5-0 on their previous visit in 2021.

“We can do better,” Tuchel told ITV football. “We have to do better. We started quite well and we had seven or eight minutes with 100% possession of ball, with a lot of passes and high energy.

“In the second half, I felt we were too late and, in general, there weren’t enough routes from the ball to get behind the line.

“We hope for a greater impact on (widespread) positions – more drumming and more aggressive routes to the box. In general, this was missing.

Tuchel: Lewis-Skelly ‘Amazing’
