Trump signs executive order that ends with ‘forced use of paper straws’


President Donald Trump Signed an executive order on Monday and ended with the termination of “purchasing and forced use of paper straws.”

The order sets the federal government to stop buying paper straws and to ensure that they are no longer offered in federal buildings, according to a fact sheet from the White House.

It also requires the development of a “national strategy” to end the use of paper straws within 45 days and “to relieve the forced use of paper straws nationwide.”

The White House said that paper straws are more expensive than using plastic straws and chemicals that can bring risks to human health.

“The irrational campaign against plastic straws has forced Americans to use non -functional paper straws,” is the fact sheet and adds: “This ends under President Trump.”

The order comes after Trump promised last week to end Bans and restrictions on plastic straws.

“I will sign an executive order next week in which I end the ridiculous Biden -Push for paper straws that don’t work,” Trump said about Truth Social on Friday. “Back to plastic!”

Multiple Democrat-Runned States, Including California, Colorado, New York, Maine, Oregon, Vermont, Rhode Wasland and Washington have a ban or restrictions on plastic straws for one -time use.

Some of those states currently have laws that limit the use of plastic straws for one-time use in full-service restaurants, unless the customer is asked.

Democrat -led states have also taken over the use of paper straws as a more environmentally friendly alternative that Trump has criticized for years. He said in a social media post from 2019 that “Liberal Paper -Rietjes don’t work.”

This is after former President Joe Biden’s Administration Announced plans in July to abolish plastic for one -time use in the federal government.
