President-elect Trump announced Wednesday that he will nominate former Missouri Rep. Billy Long to serve as commissioner of the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) in his new administration.
In a statement released Wednesday, Trump called the former congressman “an extremely hard worker, and respected by all, especially those who know him in Congress.” The president-elect also referenced Long’s experience as a tax advisor.
“Billy brings 32 years of experience running his own real estate businesses and is one of the nation’s premier auctioneers,” the Republican leader wrote in a Truth Social post. “He went on to serve twelve years in Congress because he ‘felt it was important to his constituents to have a representative who signed the front of a check!’
“Taxpayers and the great employees of the IRS will be thrilled to have Billy at the helm. He is a consummate ‘people person’ who is highly respected on both sides of the aisle. Congratulations Billy!”

Trump quickly followed his announcement by appointing former senator as president. Kelly LoefflerR-Ga., will head the Small Business Administration (SBA). The SBA’s goal is to provide small businesses with access to resources such as loans, government contracts and business advice.
“Small businesses are the backbone of our great economy. Kelly will bring her business and Washington experience to reduce red tape and create opportunities for our small businesses to grow, innovate and prosper,” Trump’s Truth Social post said. “She will focus on ensuring the SBA is accountable to taxpayers by cracking down on waste, fraud and regulatory overreach.”

Trump called Loeffler, a longtime ally and co-chair of his inaugural committee, a “great warrior” and credited her success in business.
“Prior to her term in the U.S. Senate, Kelly built a 25-year career in financial services and technology,” Trump’s statement said. “Together with her amazing husband, Jeff, as Executive VP, she helped build a Fortune 500 company from 100 employees to over 10,000. She and Jeff also helped me secure the big election victory in Georgia!”

In the first two years of Trump’s first administration, the SBA was led by Linda McMahon, who resigned in 2019. Trump tapped McMahon, the former CEO of WWE, as Secretary of Education in November.

Shortly after announcing Long and Loeffler, Trump announced he had picked Fiserv CEO Frank Bisignano to head the Social Security Administration.
“Frank is a business leader with a tremendous track record of transforming major companies. He will be responsible for delivering on the Agency’s promise to the American people for generations to come!” Trump said this in the announcement on Wednesday evening.

Bisignano was previously the CEO of First Data, the COO of JPMorgan Chase, and held senior positions at Citigroup.
