Tottenham midfielder Bedancourt out for two weeks but ‘all good’

Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Rodrigo Bendancourt will be out for two weeks after suffering concussion in the EFL Cup semi-final first leg win against Liverpool.

Bedancourt fell awkwardly when he attempted to head a corner and the game was delayed while he received treatment on the pitch.

He was taken off the field on a stretcher and was observed in hospital, but manager Ange Postecoglou says he will be good to return after a spell on the sidelines.

“It looks like a concussion, but nothing more than that. They’ve been in hospital, obviously, and they’ve had all the tests in terms of the check-up, making sure everything’s OK,” Postecoglou said ahead of his side’s FA Cup third-round clash with non-league side Tamworth.

“And everything is fine. He’s back home. They are fine. He feels good.

“Obviously we will follow the protocols now. I think it’s a couple of weeks where you have to make sure everything is OK.”

Bedancourt will have to sit out next week’s Premier League trip to Arsenal and clash with Everton but could return for the Europa League game against Hoffenheim on January 23.

“It was painful, but I thought the guys handled it well, and our medical team handled it well, and, as I say, fortunately, everything is fine,” Postecoglou added.

Tottenham haven’t won the FA Cup since 1991.
