“I was pretty impressed when I heard the news,” Brady told Fox play-by-play man Kevin Burkhardt. “I didn’t think this was an opportunity he was looking at. But obviously they’re going to have a great coach.

“Because I’ve been in the locker room with him for years, those guys are going to play very hard. He’s going to coach them well. It’s a big advantage for all those players that go to that program because they get the best performance.” coach the NFL has ever seen – now he’s at the college level.”

Burkhardt asked Brady how he thought Belichick’s recruitment would go.

The former New England Patriots quarterback admitted that his former coach wasn’t exactly the warmest person in the world.

“He’s not the warmest and fuzziest of all time. It’s not like there’s a whole lot… I remember a year after we won the Super Bowl our freshman year, we got into a limo on Bourbon Street after we beat the Rams in 2001. Getting into a limousine after the game, he says at the MVP press conference the next morning, “You know what, Tom? You had a pretty good season.” That was about as warm and fuzzy as it gets with Coach Belichick,” Brady said.

Belichick will replace Mack Brown as head coach. The Tar Heels are 6-6 this year and play UConn Fenway Bowl. Freddie Kitchens will coach the team for the match.
