Timothee Chalamet takes Method dressing to the next level.

The 28-year-old actor recreated Bob DylanThe view from an event at the 2003 Sundance Film Festival. at the premiere of Complete obscurity in New York on Friday, December 13.

Chalamet plays a younger version of 83-year-old Dylan in the biopic about the legendary musician. He appeared at the SVA Theater with sandy blonde hair with bangs – apparently a wig – which specifically gave a nod to Dylan’s hairstyle at the Sundance photocall for the drama Masked and anonymousin which the rock icon participated.

Like Dylan at the time, Chalamet wore a black leather jacket over a red and blue plaid shirt — accessorizing with a black and gray scarf, as well as a blue knit hat that covered those bronze locks. But while Dylan’s mustache was graying in the photo that inspired Chalamet for the tailoring tribute, the Dune star keep your facial hair dark – just like your original hair color.

Earlier this month, Dylan officially joined the biopic via X, writing: “Timmy is a brilliant actor so I’m sure he will be completely believable as me. Or younger me. Or some other me.”

He continued: “The film was taken from Elijah Waldis Dylan goes electric — a book that came out in 2015. This is a fantastical retelling of the events of the early 1960s that led to the Newport fiasco. After watching the movie, read the book.”

Although it was unclear whether Dylan had seen the film, his praise warmed Chalamet’s heart. in response Shalame gushed“Under. I am so grateful. Thank you Bob.’

Complete obscuritywhich hits theaters on Christmas Day, follows Dylan from the beginning of his career in 1960s New York to his famous electric guitar performance of “Like a Rolling Stone” at the 1965 Newport Folk Festival.

Dylan is not directly involved with the project, although he is directing James Mangold said Rolling Stone last month that he sat down with the singer-songwriter several times before filming began.

“Bob would have these one-liners that were so fantastic,” Chalamet told the publication in a joint interview with Mangold, 60. “Jim has Bob’s annotated script lying around somewhere. I’ll ask him to get hold of it. He will never give it to me.”

Mangold noted that he “felt like Bob just wanted to know what I was up to,” adding, “‘Who is this guy?’ Is he like a head? Does he understand it? “I think those are the normal questions that anyone asks themselves when they’re getting into an alliance with someone.”
