Tottenham Hotspur defender Christian Romero has openly criticized the club’s management for under-investing after their 4-3 defeat by Chelsea.
The defeat marked another setback in a difficult spell for Spurs under Ange Postecoglou, who have managed just one win in their last seven games in all competitions.
Romero, speaking to Telemundo Deportes after the match, expressed his concerns that the club have fallen behind their Premier League rivals due to a lack of financial commitment.
The Argentina international suggested other top clubs should invest continuously to stay competitive.
He said: “Manchester City are struggling every year, you see Liverpool strengthening their squad, Chelsea strengthening their squad, they’re not doing well, they’re strengthening again and now they’re seeing results.
“These are the things to be emulated. “You have to realize something is wrong, hopefully they (the board) realize that.

“The last few years it’s always the same – first the players, then they change the coaching staff and it’s always the same people in charge.
“Hopefully they will understand who is really responsible and we can move forward because it is a beautiful club that, with the structure they have, could easily compete for the title every year.”
The Australian manager is the fifth manager Romero has worked under since joining Spurs in 2021, including interim appointments.
Sunday’s defeat by their London rivals left Spurs languishing in the bottom half of the table, sitting 11th after 15 games.
The team’s current struggles have intensified the scrutiny of the club’s management – which we have analyzed in a separate piece – with Romero pointing the finger at the scoreboard instead of coach Ange Postecoglou.
Romero’s comments came during a live interview with Spanish broadcaster Telemundo Deportes, where he was asked about the depth of Tottenham’s squad.
