Sometimes in football, certain results feel like the end of the road for a manager under pressure.
If the pressure had not already increased Gary O’NeillComing back from a disappointing 4-2 defeat to AFC Bournemouth, he’s certainly hot now as he’s terrible Wolverhampton Wanderers The outfit folded at Goodison Park to lose 4-0 to Sean Dyche’s usually timid side.
This could well be the last straw for the powers that be at Molineux, with equals Craig Dawson frustrating the visitors with a defensive car crash display to potentially cost the 44-year-old his job.
Dawson’s performance in numbers
Actually, Dawson’s 300th career game at Premier League It couldn’t have gone much worse as the former West Ham centre-back scored two own goals to make Everton’s win that much more complete.
The experienced defender would unfortunately be connected with a corner and a free-kick in the second half that left plenty of room for the visitors, who will travel back to the West Midlands full of confidence.
Away from his two spontaneous own goals, Dawson also struggled to latch onto and stop the likes of Dwight McNeil, having tallied just one tackle.
The underdog number 15 would somehow last the full 90 minutes after only lasting a half of football against Bournemouth, but it is unclear whether he will start in Wolves’ next Premier League game away to West Ham – who have their own of his own administrator’s concerns to address.
However, Dawson wasn’t the only one to put in an awful display at the back, with Santiago Bueno’s display at the heart of the defense also prompting mass groans at the away goal at Goodison Park.
Bueno’s performance in numbers
Bueno didn’t have the same damn luxury as the 34-year-old throughout the full contest, having been put out of his misery in the 77th minute by O’Neill for Totti Gomes to leave late on.
He would have been grateful for that change as the Uruguayan was well off the pace, as was his sorry teammate in Dawson.

Looking at the table above, Bueno was just as ragged as his experienced defensive teammate, with possession wasted 13 times by the 26-year-old while still on the pitch, while failing to register a single blocked shot or interception.
Both Bueno and Dawson putting in those poor performances wouldn’t have come as too much of a shock to Wolves fans watching, however, who have now seen their relegation-threatened side leak out an alarming 36 goals from just 14 league matches.
So if O’Neil continues to fail to inspire his troops to turn around their staggering fortunes, it could be time for a fresh approach to the dugout, with this appearance perhaps signaling the end of the road is here for the former – Bournemouth Manager.
Rumors were already circulating in recent weeks regarding his future – this will only add fuel to the fire.
