The Biden administration is trying to quickly distribute climate funds to strengthen the president’s green energy agenda sooner President-elect Donald Trump will take over the Oval Office in January.
In a memo issued by the White HouseWhite House Chief of Staff Jeff Zients said the administration will “sprint to the finish line and get as much done as possible for the American people” in the remaining weeks of President Joe Biden’s term.
Biden’s top official said they plan to “obligate as much funding as possible before the end of the term,” including distributing unspent Inflation Reduction Act (IRA) funds to support climate-related projects.
The White House also said Americans “can expect more action” on the IRA’s funding of Democrats’ climate legislation.

Trump has suggested he would “defund” the IRA if he becomes president, legislation he has described as the “greatest scam in history.”
Although some House Republicanswho secured a majority in the House in the next Congress have also expressed support for reworking the climate law, House Speaker Mike Johnson, R-La., told CNBC that “you have to use a scalpel and not a sledgehammer” on the legislation .
However, it is unlikely that the IRA will be completely brought down as almost all the funds have already been allocated.

White House spokesman Andrew Bates warned that Republicans and the new administration would try to undo Biden’s agenda.

“Repealing President Biden’s signature laws would be a historic redistribution of wealth from working Americans to Big Pharma and China,” Bates said in a memo first obtained by NBC News, adding that despite possible opposition, projects under the IRA ‘being locked up’. .”

Bates also suggested that Republican districts benefit from the IRA.
“That includes the creation of more than 330,000 clean energy jobs – disproportionately in House districts represented by Republicans,” Bates wrote. “Thanks to the Inflation Reduction Act, we have already saved more than 3.4 million Americans $8.4 million on upgrading their homes with clean energy, and saved more than 300,000 Americans more than $2 billion up front on purchasing electric vehicles.”
