The reception admits to ‘creates anger with players’ during Liverpool’s victory over Southampton

Arne Slot admitted that he had to “get angry” with his half -time players, as Liverpool came from a goal to beat the bottom of Southampton to move 16 points to the top of the Premier League.

The Reds made a second return to secure a 3-1 win over the Saints in Anfield, with the courtesy of Mohamed Salah Brace and Darwin Nunez, after Will Smallbone had given visitors a shock.

The victory comes just three days after the slot side, overcame a PSG attack in Paris to win a thin 1-0 advantage that goes to the second leg of the Champions League 16 conflict.

Southampton’s visit, at least on paper, presented a completely different challenge for the Slot team, but the Dutch manager was still feeling the need to make three changes at half time in an effort to return to the game.

Splot revealed that he had warned his team against complacency before the start and talked about how to create a “anger” in the Dressing Room on the break was necessary to shoot his players.

“I think I’ve tried everything before the game,” Slot said after the game.

“So, in the media, in my meetings, to make them clear to them (the players) how difficult this game is.

“But in the end I had to make some harsh decisions at half time to create a certain anger with the players. And those who came, again, were very important to us and that helped us win the win over the line.”

Liverpool’s lead at the top could be cut to 13 points if Arsenal defeated Manchester United at Old Trafford on Sunday.

Then the Slot team is a second match with the PSG. The two teams meet at Anfield on Tuesday with a place in the last eight of Europe’s Elite Club competition.
