Two successful ones follow The Princess Diaries movies, devoted fans clamored for more — but does the tiara still stand?

Late Director Garry Marshall earlier adapted And Kabatis a bestseller The Princess Diaries novels for the big screen. In the first film, Hathaway’s Mia is an ordinary – if unpopular – teenager who discovers she is the princess of a small European country and meets her estranged grandmother (Andrews) for the first time. A sequel called The The Princess Diaries 2: Royal Engagement, premiered in 2004.
Hathaway announced in October 2024 that she reprises her role in a third film — which Disney gave the green light — and hopes to begin filming in 2025.
