Crystal Palace and Aston Villa, counting the cost of a 4-1 win for the Eagles, as England’s Marc Guehi defender and Argentine goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez put injuries.
Guehi had to be treated, but played 90 minutes, as the director of the National Team Thomas Tuchel watched at Selhurst Park, while Martinez went on the break.
The news comes weeks before March of the English World Cup qualifiers against Albania and Latvia.
“He felt a little bit of pain and the fingers crossed that he was nothing serious, he felt pain in his knee. He can rest for two days now,” said Oliver Glasner.
Martinez was replaced for Robin Olsen at halftime after getting an injury, with his boss Villa Unai Emery saying: “He felt pain yesterday.
“He tried and warmed up, but in the first half he felt pain and we decided to change him.”
Senegal International Ismaila Sarr’s Double on his birthday proved to be decisively as the palace won a fun game.
Glasner said: “I know him (sarr) for seven or eight months and we signed him because we could see his abilities and skills that fit how we want to play and I could see that he is a great guy and willing to learned.
“We knew what we had to do when we found space in possession and I think the players did it on a fantastic level.
“In the first half we were a little unlucky and I was happy with the reaction to 1-1.
“The momentum can change when you face a team like the villa and it didn’t. We were sharp, stuck in the plan and scored fantastic goals so we could believe the players.”
