On Saturday, the Ministry of Information and Culture of the Taliban said in a statement that Radio Begum had repeatedly asked permission to resume broadcasts.

The suspension was lifted after the station had made obligations to the Taliban officials, the ministry said.

Radio Begum agreed to carry out broadcasts “in accordance with the principles of journalism and the regulations of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan, and to avoid violations in the future,” said the statement. The ministry has not offered any details about what those principles and regulations can be.

The station confirmed that it had been given permission to resume the broadcaster, without providing additional details.
