Speaking with FT, Mandelson tried to distance themselves from European left-wing, to expand to the pro-business arguments in his OP-ED.
“Some in the neighborhood of Mr. Trump see me while they look at many in Europe,” he told the outlet. “They see me as a left-wing progressive one, someone who might even be anti-business or someone who might follow the kind of liberalism that they have just defeated in America. What they will discover is that I am not uber-liberal, I am not a wrecky -Cokey species, and I am Pro-Market and Pro-Business.

Mandelson also mentioned opponents China as a place where the US and his country could find a common basis in his interview with Fox News Digital.
