Crystal Palace could have a number of players missing for their FA Cup third round tie against Stockport after a major illness swept through the squad this week.
Coach Oliver Glasner says the big man has kept several players out of training and admitted he doesn’t know who will be available for Sunday’s game.
“We had a lot of sick players this week or a lot of question marks,” Glasner said at a news conference.
“Until today (Friday), Jean-Philippe Mateta, Maxence Lacroix and Tyrick Mitchell did not practice. Caleb Kporha trained for the first time today but Dean Henderson went home today as he was ill.
“One or two might come back tomorrow, but of course they might not be available to start if you’ve been in bed with a fever for most of the week, so there are still a lot of question marks.
“But all our healthy players made it pretty easy because we had one of our best training weeks in months, even with a small number.
“I’m really happy with how training went and that gives me a good feeling for this three-match week coming up.”
Palace team news
Palace midfielder Will Hughes is a major doubt with a leg injury, while Adam Wharton is recovering from surgery to repair a problem affecting his hip and groin.
“Adam is improving but he’s a long way from training with the team, but he’s improving,” Glasner said.
“I can’t tell you if it will take two weeks or three or four, but it is highly unlikely that he will be back in January.”
Palace transfer news
Crystal Palace boss Oliver Glasner says the club are working to bring in two players in the January transfer window.
The palace is reportedly on the market for
“As soon as we sign a player we will tell you. We’re working on two transfers, but I don’t know how quickly we’ll get them done,” Glasner said.
“Talking about it just makes it more expensive!”
Glasner also revealed that no Palace players have told him they want to leave the club in this window, amid interest in Marc Guehi from the centre-back’s former club Chelsea.
“If we can keep the team together – because we’re really happy with the development of the players in the last two months after a not-so-easy start – it’s looking pretty positive.
“Nobody told me they want to leave. That’s the most important part: the players want to stay here.”
