The brilliant run continues as Forest remain third

Nottingham Forest made it six consecutive Premier League wins as they faced a much-improved Wolves side to move level on points with second-placed Arsenal.

Goalkeeper Matz Sels made some good saves to keep Wolves out in a scintillating first-half display and at the other end Morgan Gibbs-White, Chris Wood and Taiwo Awoniyi scored after trademark counter-attacks.

Wolves manager Vitor Pereira will be relishing the fact that his side created so many good chances but were unable to capitalize on them and Forest were masterful in finishing their chances.

Former Wolves boss Nuno Esprito Santo has now seen his side lead 16 of their 20 league games and are just six points behind Liverpool – who they host next week.

With new England manager Thomas Tuchel in the stands, Forest marked the 50th anniversary of the appointment of their top manager Brian Clough in style.

An Elliott Anderson pass found Gibbs-White who raced through the Wolves defence, exchanged passes with Anthony Elanga and found the bottom corner via a deflection.

The former Wolves man had been booed since the start of the match by the home fans and celebrated by putting his fingers in his ears.

An incredible Murillo block on the line prevented Jorgen Strand Larsen from equalizing after a good run by Hwang Hee-chan, before Sels made an excellent save from Rodrigo Gomes’ strike.

Another excellent save kept out Larsen’s header from close range, before Forest thought they had a penalty for handball, but a VAR check saw Ryan Ait-Nouri save.

A long ball forward then allowed Callum Hudson-Odoi to speed down the left and his cut back found Wood, who bagged his 12th goal of the season.

Larsen had another good effort saved after the break but Forest managed the game superbly to win once again – with sub Awoniyi on hand to tap in James Ward-Prowse’s pass after another electric break right at the end.
