Teddy Mellencamp wonders if Edwin Arroyave’s divorce was a ‘mistake’


The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills alum Teddy Mellencamp she was not always firm in her decision to divorce Edwin Arroyave.

“We went to this whole couple’s therapy thing and she called me out as an introvert, and it was shocking news to everybody, even though I’ve been saying it my whole life,” Mellencamp, 43, said on the Thursday, Jan. 16, episode of her Diamonds in the Rough podcast. “I’m an introvert by nature, so I enjoy my alone time (and) I need to recharge.”

Although she found comfort in the quiet moments, she was not prepared for the increased loneliness of divorce. (Mellencamp split from Arroyave, 47, in the fall of 2024 and filed for divorce that November.)

“There are times I feel now when I feel really lonely and I don’t know if these feelings of loneliness mean I made a mistake or it’s just something I have to get used to and this is the new change in my life,” Mellencamp asked, trying to hold back tears. “Oh my god, I’m so embarrassed I’m getting emotional, but this is such a confusing part of it all.”

Teddy Mellencamp has shared exactly what she needs to do about her ongoing divorce from Edwin Arroyave — and she doesn’t plan on revealing much more than that. She continued, “Should you pass, or should you give it (time)?”

Mellencamp podcast co-host, Erica Jane — whose own personal life hit the headlines in 2020. after her breakup with a now disbarred attorney Thomas Girardi – tuned in to share your support.

“She’s in the thick of things right now and it’s very fresh and very difficult,” Jane, 53, said on Thursday’s episode. “I feel for her because none of this is easy and to rise up and even be on a podcast today and talk about it. You know, Teddy, you should give yourself a break. If you hadn’t said you were feeling lonely, I would have worried that you were.

For Mellencamp, it seems like she’s in “constant pain” that she’s “trying to fake (her) way through” every day.

“I’ve talked about it in therapy, but it’s almost like I’m drawn to another chaotic situation,” Mellencamp explained. “I don’t want to reveal too much about my parents or anything, but obviously my dad (John Mellencamp) was a rock star. He met some girl in the Rainbow Room and it was my mother and they had babies (while) he was already married. It was like it was all like a… show.”

Teddy continued: “There have been many ups and downs in my life and my only goal has always been … to give my children stability. I don’t know if it’s loneliness or feeling scared, (but) I also don’t feel like I’m enough, like all these things.

Teddy and Arroyave share daughters Slate, 12, and Dove, 4, as well as son Cruz, 10. (Arroyave is also father to daughter Isabella, 15, from a previous relationship.)
