“Her implant came off in seconds,” Tasha’s professional partner, Alyaz Skoryanetssaid after their performance on Saturday, November 30, live on the BBC.
At the end of the number, 26-year-old Tasha put back her implant.
Tasha, who is deaf and uses an electronic implant to pick up sounds, dances an impressive Argentine tango to Ex-Wives from the Tony-winning musical six. To match her purple jumpsuit, Tasha’s implant was covered in matching shiny skin.
Technical malfunction aside, the combination of Tasha and Alijaz won 38 out of 40 from the judges and put them at the top of the Musicals Week charts.
“Hey everyone, I hope you all enjoyed our dance,” Tasha said in an Instagram Story video later tonight. “This week has been very challenging and a great honor for me six, as well. It’s the first time on Strictly couple (dance) to six.“
She added: “I went to see six on Tuesday; I felt so inspired. It has given me so much inspiration to delve into our Argentinian tango and the story behind it about empowering women. We should lift each other up, not see who is worse. I liked the whole story of six. It was really nice to connect with (the actresses) as well, to chat with them.”
Tasha also noted that she “just can’t believe” that she made it to the quarterfinals of the Strictly come to dance.
“I really hope you all enjoyed the dance and thank you for your support and love,” she concluded.
Tasha who met a boyfriend Andrew Le Page in season 8 of Love Island Great Britainhas been candid about what it’s like to dance with her cochlear implant all season long. In fact, the costume team also made sure to match her outfit during each routine.
“I’m in my suit (and) I’m going to put on my sparkly blue skins because I want to match all the baby blue vibes,” she said in September TikTok video. “Just peel it off (and stick it on the implant.) I love the shine it gives Strictly cochlear implant.”
At the time, she noted that using “double-sided boob tape” helps ensure the implant stays in place during routine procedures.
“I tape it on the inside,” Tasha added. “And just like that now I can hear. I’m back.”
