Tank surprised his fans today by announcing that 2025 will be his last in the sport as he will retire at the end of the year. He says he will fight three times next year and then hang up the gloves. So His Excellency Turki is going to set up a battle between Tank and Shakur. it will need to happen next year,
Regulatory plan of Turkey
For the Tank-Shakur fight to happen, Stevenson (22-0, 10 KOs) would need to beat the undefeated Schofield (18-0, 12 KOs) who had #1 Zepeda (32-0, 27 KOs). These aren’t exactly surefire wins for Shakur, who isn’t a puncher and doesn’t appear to be powerfully designed for the 135 lb. division.
“The situation with Shakur is (William) Zepeda is injured. My plan is that Shakur is what I want to see in my lifetime. I hope I have time to see it. For Shakur, my plan is this (Floyd Schofield) fight, then Zepeda, and then let’s see if Tank wants to be on our show,” His Excellency Turki Alalshikh told Ariel Helwani. channel on YouTube about his interest in matching up with Shakur Stevenson and Gervonta Davis.
“He officially asked me on social media for two Ferraris. I think the two Ferraris are a lot cheaper than what I pay for some fighters. If this is the cost of the fight, why not?” Turki said of Tank Davis who had previously asked him for two Ferraris before considering racing one of his cards.
Tank will need to want the Shakur fight because he has typically shied away from taking risky matches during his eleven-year professional career. He never fought Vasily Lomachenko or showed any interest in fighting Teofimo Lopez or Devin Haney. Tank is already rich and has enough money to live out the rest of his life in his high-rise apartment in Baltimore. Will he agree to fight Shakur? You’d like to believe so, but his evasion history says otherwise.
