Students accused of approaching ICE agents on campus


The police of the Temple University in Philadelphia are investigating after two students were said to have submitted to the American immigration and customs enforcement agents (ICE) at a company on campus on the weekend.

Fox 29 in Philadelphia reported that two people present themselves as ICE agents, while a third person took them.

The Campus Police of Temple University said they received reports that people present themselves as ice officers at Insomnia Cookies on Cecil B. Moore Avenue Saturday night.

The suspects wore shirts with “ice cream” and “police” in white letters, and one of the suspects reportedly registered the incident.

The three suspects also tried to enter the Johnson and Hardwick Residence Hall earlier that night, although according to the police they got access.

After a preliminary investigation, a temple student was arrested and placed on interim suspension.

The police arrested 22-year-old Aidan Steigelmann, who was accused of act as an officialFox 29 reported. It is not clear whether Steigelmann was a student or a former student.

“It is deeply disturbing and disappointing to know behavior as reportedly happened on our campus,” said Temple Police.

On Tuesday, the Public Safety Campus Division provided an update and the campus community inquired that all three people involved had been identified.

The suspects were identified as two students who are now between interim suspension and a former student who is no longer affiliated with the university.

“As mentioned in an earlier e -mail on the temple community on Sunday, it is a crime of the law enforcement officers who occur to law enforcement officials,” said the Public Safety division. “This behavior and intimidation of members of the temple community will not be tolerated.”

The statement also noted that neither the Temple’s Department of Public Safety nor the Philadelphia Police Department Had reports about federal ice officers on campus.
