Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim has warned his fans that his side will soon be “learned” as they prepare for an incredibly tough run of games.
The new boss is unbeaten since moving to Old Trafford, beating Bodo/Glimt and Everton after a 1-1 draw with Ipswich Town in his opening game, but the challenge is set to increase on Wednesday with a visit to the Emirates Stadium to face Arsenal.
United must also face Nottingham Forest, Manchester City, Tottenham Hotspur, Bournemouth, Wolverhampton Wanderers and Newcastle United before the end of the calendar year, while 2025 begins with away games against Liverpool and Arsenal.
“I’d like to say different things, but I have to say it again: the storm will come,” Amorim told fans. “I don’t know if you use that expression, but we’re going to have tough times and we’re going to learn in some games. And I know that because I know my players and I know football and I follow football.
“So I understand the difference between the teams and we are at the point where we are just putting things in the team, without training, and you feel it in this game against Everton.
“They changed the way they set up a little bit – they’re a very good team and we had a lot of problems because we can’t change it by calling one thing to the captain because we don’t have that (time) training. .”
Amorim admitted that, in an ideal world, the United manager should not expect such a battle, but insisted the Red Devils are simply not ready to compete with Arsenal and Liverpool at the top of the Premier League table.
“I know it’s very difficult to be Manchester United manager and say these things – we want to keep winning, no matter what, and we’ll try to win,” he continued.
“But we know we are in a different place if you compare to Arsenal. We will try to win it and we are going with confidence to win but we know we have to play very well to win the next football match.”
