Liverpool’s director, Arne Slot, admitted that he was conquered by Virgil Van Dijk’s excellent ability, describing the club’s captain as “another level”.
Now 33, Van Dijk has been in the last six months of his contract and recently made his 300th appearance for Liverpool 4-1 in Ipswich.
Since arriving at Anfield, the Dutch Center-back has won everything, such as the Premier League, the Champions League, the Club World Cup, the Super Cup, the FA Cup and two league cups.
Despite the speculation surrounding his future, Van Dijk helped at the top of Liverpool at the top of the Premier League, securing a place in the Champions League lately and moving on to the Carabao Cup semifinals.
Slot, Speaking with Gary LinekerHe said: “Everyone here in England would tell you that Virgil van Dijk is the best defender in the world.
“In the Netherlands, he got a little more criticized than he gets here in England. I was, in a very positive way, surprised how good he was on the ball and how he could play football through the lines.
“From the first day I was like” wow, that’s definitely another level I’m used to. “But people in England were used to it.”

Slot, who took over Liverpool last summer after Jurgen Klopp’s departure, led the team to a six -point lead above Arsenal in the Premier League, with a hand -in -hand game.
Liverpool also dominated the Champions League campaign, winning all seven games so far, securing their last track with a game that remains. The final match of their team sees PSV Eindhoven on Wednesday.
Reflecting the Liverpool era, Splot admitted that their current position exceeded his expectations.
“You don’t think that after 20 games we will have many points and I didn’t expect to be top with the margin we have,” he added.
“It’s always nice to be there, but no one would expect that. I’m the last one to expect (reigning Manchester champions) to have such a bad run.
“Liverpool should always compete for a championship title. We always have to compete in the Champions League. I hope I will be able to keep the club at this level.”
