Sophia Lorenthe granddaughter of is officially a debutante!
18 years old Lucia Ponti has done her big debut at the exclusive Le Bal in Paris, France. The event was held at the iconic Shangri-la Hotel.
According to a statement on social media, the ball seeks to celebrate “excellence, female empowerment and harmony between debutantes and gentlemen from around the world.”
Ponti is the daughter of Sasha Alexander and Edoardo Ponti — and the granddaughter of iconic Italian actress Sophia Loren.
Lucia attended the famous debutante ball on Saturday, November 30, and said her grandmother inspired much of her fashion sense.
“My grandmother always believed in timeless elegance and the importance of wearing something that reflects who you really are,” Ponti told hello in an interview published on Monday, November 25. “Growing up, she taught me the value of simplicity, tailoring and always adding a touch of uniqueness to your outfit.”
Ponti added that “Lauren’s wardrobe is full of pieces that tell a story, and I carry that mindset with me.”
For the event, Ponti chose a dress by an Italian fashion designer Giorgio Armani — a friend of her star grandmother.

The gorgeous dress features a lace and patterned design in a vintage style. She accessorized with a diamond and emerald necklace.
“I tend to choose dresses or clothes that make me feel confident but are also comfortable to wear,” Ponti said hello. “I looked at other dresses that had been presented at Le Bal in previous years and they all individually represented the girls so beautifully. I was just hoping to find a dress that would do the same for me.
Ponti grew up in Los Angeles, California, but currently attends Brown University, where she studies art history and English.
Loren, now 90 years old, currently lives in Geneva, Switzerland.
“My grandmother and I are very close,” Ponti said hello. “We visit her often in Geneva and she also visits us in LA. I love her very much and despite the distance, we spend enough time together.
She also recalled childhood memories of her grandmother — and her closet.
She said hello that often when her grandmother came she would stay in her room.
“As a little girl, I would walk into my room covered in furs and jewelry and coats, and at the time I was so mesmerized by the transformation my room went through every time she came,” Ponti said.
