Sophia Loren’s Family Handbook: 2 Sons and 4 Grandsons

Sophia Loren has had an incredible career over the years, but her roles as “mom” and “grandma” may be her favorite so far.

“I live for my family,” Lauren said Today in 2016 “I have the most beautiful grandchildren I have ever seen in my life. I am happy! I live a wonderful life.”

Lauren was married to Carlo Ponti until his death in 2007. Together they share two sons.

In the years since sons Carlo Jr. and Edoardo grew up and started families of their own, Loren moved to Switzerland but remained close to her offspring.

“My grandmother and I are very close,” said granddaughter Lucia hello in November 2024 “We visit her often in Geneva and she also visits us in LA. I love her very much and despite the distance, we spend enough time together.

She added: “I admire her commitment to her values. She never gives up her own authentic self to meet the expectations of others around her. I am endlessly inspired by her and always feel grateful to have such an amazing role model to look up to.”

Carlo Ponti

Loren first met Ponti, an Italian director, when he visited Rome at the age of 16. At that time he was 37 years old. They married 11 years later.

“I finished the film A floating house (p Cary Grant), and I returned to Italy to continue my career,” recalls Loren The view in 2016 “Many days passed, years passed, and I decided this the man of my life was Carlo—and is still Carlo, even though he is no longer with us.’

Carlo Jr. and Andrea have a son, Vittorio, who was born in 2007.

Andrea gave birth to her and Carlo Jr.’s second child, a daughter, in 2012.

Edoardo Ponti

Lauren gave birth to her second son in 1973. He grew up as a director and screenwriter, best known for Between strangers, a human voice and Life ahead. In his personal life, Edoardo got married Sasha Alexander in 2007

Lucia Sophia Ponti

Lucia, named after her grandmother, is Edoardo and Sasha’s first child. She was born in 2006. When Lucia was 18 years old, she made her official debut in the society of The famous Parisian Le Bal des Debutantes in 2024
