In the last episode of Sister wives, Mary Brown shed light on the distribution of her family’s funds — and she claims it wasn’t always fair.
“His whole big thing then was I was going to get two acres. Two acres,” Mary, 53, told her friend Jen during the Sunday, January 19, episode of the TLC series, claiming that the ex-husband Cody Brown never intended to give her an equal share of their Coyote Pass family property. “He said, ‘Well, you don’t need that much because you don’t have that many kids.’
Jenn pointed out that Mary “paid the same” for the lot, which is located in Flagstaff, Arizona, despite the fact that she only shares one child, Leonwith Cody, 55.
“I don’t know if they don’t remember, like, when our funds were together and those family funds that I helped with went to the kids’ college, went to properties,” Mary explained. “It came to everything. We had a family fund.’

Jen quick Mary reminded that not only did she put money into the family bank when she was married to Cody, but that money “paid for most of the kids’ colleges, but not Leon’s.”
Jen claimed that the family fund “went on most of the kids’ cars, but not Leon’s,” which Mary confirmed. “I paid for Leon’s college,” Mary said, adding that she also paid for her child’s “car payments” — and didn’t use the family slush.
Mary admitted: “I really don’t know how much of the family fund actually paid for other children’s school or cars, but I do know that my child’s school was not covered by the family fund.”
Despite being married to Cody the longest, Mary claims she never received an equal share of the money her sister-wives put together for their large family.
“Cody basically said this: ‘Because I only have one child, I’m not entitled to an equal share of the property,'” Mary claims, again referring to the sale of their shared land.
Mary and Cody were legally married from 1990 to 2014. They divorced so that Cody could marry a fourth wife Robin Brown and legally adopted his three children from a previous relationship. Mary and Cody remained in spiritual union until she confirmed their split in January 2023
Together with Leon, Cody welcomed six children together Janelle Brown and Christine Brown before their respective separations. (Janelle announced her split in December 2022, while Kristin left the extended family in 2021.)
Cody is still married to Robin, 46, with whom he shares three adopted children and two biological children.
“We had 18 children to take care of. You know, it’s just water under the bridge,” Cody told the cameras during Sunday’s episode while discussing the asset split. “I don’t even want to discuss it. Mary can complain all she wants about what happened.
After more than 30 years of marriage, Cody and Mary Brown managed to get out of more than one major difficulty before confirming their separation in 2023. While Cody tried to ignore Mary’s claims, she remained adamant that she deserved some money from their Coyote Pass property — and so did Janelle. (Christine gave her part of the land (to Robin and Cody after her divorce and kept the money from the sale of her home in Arizona.)
“I put a lot into this marriage emotional, financial (and) personal. I didn’t get anything out of it like alimony or anything. And I’m not looking for that,” Mary concluded. “So I think it’s fair (I get) the property investment. I think it’s only fair to leave with that at least.”
Elsewhere in the episode, Cody met with a realtor to point out Coyote Pass, but didn’t let Janelle or Mary know. Meanwhile, both women have hired lawyers to try and protect their land rights.
