Senior US Defense Official discusses Pentagon and cuts 60,000 civilian jobs


About a third of the employees who will dismiss the Ministry of Defense (DOD) voluntarily depart from the deferred dismissal program, said a higher American defense officer on Tuesday.

“More than 20,000, almost 21,000 of the applications of employees who register to participate in a postponed dismissal program. So they will actually be achieved over time,” said the defense officer during a media lettering. “We are busy placing those employees who have been approved with administrative leave.”

The DOD adjusts its civil workfish file to the priorities of national security. As part of this effort, the DOD carries out a strategic reduction of 5-8% of its civilian workforce to steer resources and manpower to mission-critical functions.

The figure breaks down to around 50-60,000. From them to 32,000 veterans could lose their DOD civilian jobs.

Together with the deferred dismissal program, the Department removes certain probation staff and sets you recruitment. Each of the initiatives, directed by Minister of Defense Pete Hegseeth, is aimed at personnel mission -criticism of promoting letality, readyness and war fights.

“So the department is a steward of the American tax money. We must be good stewards and be responsible for that money and also ensure that we reach the mission and have the right focus on the mission,” said the civil servant.
