The Senate voted on Tuesday past party lines to promote the appointment of Kash Patel, president Donald Trump’s Choose the FBI director, where a procedural obstacle is cleared to set up a definitive vote on Trump’s controversial ally to lead the federal law enforcement agency.
Legislers in the upper room voted 48-45 to promote the appointment of Patel, because Democrats expressed concern that he would operate as a loyalist for the president and the political enemies of the administration.
This draws up a final confirmation mood later in the week. Patel, a former Intelligence Services Officer and Ministry of Defense, has supported Patel the reform of the FBI, also by extending his role to implement Trump’s mission aimed at immigration.

Democrats have also criticized Patel for supporting false claims about voter fraud in the 2020 elections and his refusal to confirm that former President Joe Biden Trump defeated in the elections of that year. But Patel has still received support from many Republicans, including moderates.

Patel said during his confirmation hearing last month that Democrats removed some of his comments from the context or misunderstanding his point, even when he suggested closing the FBI headquarters in Washington, DC and making a museum for the ‘deep state’ for it . Patel also denied the accusation that the recording of his book of a list of government officials who, according to him, was part of the “Deep State” formed a “enemy list”, who pushed back on that statement as a “total wrong characterization”.
