Gellar, 47, raised eyebrows on Wednesday, December 11, when she made a funny face after being asked if Hewitt, 45, would return for the highly anticipated reboot. “I have nothing to do with it,” Gellar said Extra on Dexter: Original Sin red carpet, throwing his hands in the air and then walking away.
Although some fans thought Gellar was simply out of line — it is not in the reboot after her character was killed off in the 1997 original. – others claimed it was a jab at Hewitt. (There have been rumors in the past that Hewitt and Gellar have feuded on set since the ’90s.)
Gellar, meanwhile, said via her Instagram story on Friday, Dec. 13 that she made the face after realizing she had a nondisclosure agreement for the film — in other words, she’s not supposed to talk about casting.
“Aspiring actors please take note: this deer-in-the-headlights reaction is perfect for when you’re excited to see so many old friends in one project, but you’ve already stupidly forgotten what an NDA means once this month,” she captioned a photo in a director’s chair on set and refers to a previous gaffe.
Gellar by accident shared the same photo when visiting her husband Freddie Prinze Jr.on set in November.

My bad!”

“It’s never too late to come back. Julie James is back,” Hewitt wrote via Instagram on Friday. “I know what you’re going to do next summer! @IKnowWhatYouDidLastSummerMovie.”
Gellar then reposted Hewitt’s message via her own Instagram Stories.
Gellar and Hewitt played Helen Shivers and Julie James, respectively, in the 1997 thriller. together with Prince, who depicted Ray Bronson. (Gellar and Prince, 48, met on set and eventually married in 2002.)
While Hewitt and Prince reprized their roles in 1998’s I still know what you did last summerGellar’s character was killed off in the original.
Rumors later surfaced that Hewitt was responsible for Gellar’s character’s death, which she denied during a recent episode of “I’ve never said that before with Tommy Didario” podcast.
“I was 18. They didn’t take notes on the script. We were all in this experience together, you know, figuring anything and everything out. And I support her and Freddie,” Hewitt said during Tuesday’s episode, denying he had the power to fire Gellar. “I think it’s the sweetest thing in the world that they’ve been married for 100 years and have kids. It’s like, adorable. So it was just really funny to see all that stuff.
