Sabres Great Rob Ray takes Puck to the face


Buffalo Sabres Omroep Rob Ray had an understandably hot microphone moment during Saturday’s game against the New York Rangers after he had taken a puck on the face between the banks.

The unfortunate incident caught the legend of the Sabres surprised in the opening period.

Ray is no stranger to injury – neither between the banks nor on the ice.

He collected 3,207 criminal minutes in his 14 seasons at the Sabres organization and set a franchise record. His time spent in the box is also in sixth place on the NHL career frame.

In a game of December 2023, Ray was again – almost identical – struck with a puck in between eyes.

In both cases he immediately returned to action. Ray was recorded in the Sabres Hall of Fame last month.
