Reynolds, 48, spoke to the audience at Radio City Music Hall on Friday, January 24, while Jackman, 56, stood on stage during a break in his show Hugh Jackman Live: From New York with Loveewhich opened tonight.
The previous summer, Reynolds and Jackman took theaters by storm with their Marvel blockbuster Deadpool and Wolverine.
Reynolds, wearing a white button-down shirt, gray pants and white sneakers, began his speech with an anecdote about Jackman’s behavior on the set of the superhero movie.
“Like here, he knew every single person’s name, even though half the time he was making them up,” said the actor, businessman and husband of Blake Lively he told the crowd, drawing laughter. “He showed a kind of courtesy, gentleness and curiosity and added value to every single crew member we worked with.”
Reynolds called Jackman “my lifelong goal,” though he said, “I’m his second best friend.”

Reynolds joked on Friday that “we were supposed to end that part when these two security guys come and try to take my microphone (from) — it’s like wrestling, and then they hit me and I fall, and then they tied up me and then they threw me in the Radio City music dump and then they just set it on fire.
However, he continued: “Actually I just wanted to say that I love this man, I care about this man. He is, he is truly the best human being I know. And I have 4 kids!”
The celebration of love was mutual.
“I love you Ryan Reynolds, I love you man,” Jackman replied, joking that his friend was actually his fifth best friend. “Thank you for coming. And thanks for asking for a free ticket too.”
The duo plans to reunite on the big screen — but not in Deadpool continuation. Reynolds said in November that he was “spending the year writing” new film for himself, Jackman and the director Sean Levy.
Deadpool and Wolverineled by Levi, featured numerous cameos including Lively, Jennifer Garner, Wesley Snipes and Chris Evansand grossed more than $1 billion worldwide.
