Robertson happy to avoid the Champions League Carnage

Liverpool’s full back, Andy Robertson, was happy to avoid the “carnage” that unfolded elsewhere, as his side ended the top of the Champions League table despite the 3-2 defeat to the PSV Eindhoven tonight.

Arne Slot’s men led twice, though a penalty of Cody Gakpo against his former club and a Harvey Elliott target, but PSV hit both of that he was the winner of the first half time.

Mersysiders ended with 10 men after AMARA Nallo’s mission for a foul on Bakayoko with three minutes.

This meant that Liverpool’s 100 % record was over, but this was undoubtedly offset by the fact that the reception of the event was able to give several new club players some European experience.

Robertson told Tnt Sports: “We can get a lot of positives tonight and it was an opportunity to give young young people an opportunity.

“We got our noses in front of 2-1 and then were a little naive, which is usually not the case. We tried to push when I fell back, but it just didn’t happen. The results went elsewhere so we could finish the top and we wanted to Beginning of the season. “

Young people are impressed in spite of defeat

Scotland’s veteran defender Robertson was impressed with how an infinite side of Liverpool was executed at Philips Stadion, adding: “They were really good. (James) McConnell was great in the middle section and led forward. Great on top and keep the ball very well.

“We also had experienced players to take a chance. Federico (Chiesa) was really good and it took the 90 minutes he needed.”

It was a frantic night of the Champions League football with most sides having something to play and Robertson was happy for the drama to play elsewhere.

He said: “Tonight looked like Carnage, the championship table was everywhere, so I’m glad our position settled.

“All games in one night have made excitement. We know any form it was, our goal is always to reach the last 16 and then see if we can go further.

“I’m very happy we don’t have a play-off and we are in the automatic eight. There will always be hard games, so let’s see who we face as soon as they fight it in the play-offs.”

Liverpool will play one of Paris St-Germain, Benfica, Monaco or Brest in the last 16.
