Riley Keough Reveals Teen Arrest, Lisa Marie Presley’s Reaction


Riley Keough reveals for the first time that she was arrested as a teenager and how Lisa Marie reacted

Riley Keoughjust like her late mother Lisa Marie Presleyhad a rebellious phase as a teenager.

“I would get away and, you know, date people I shouldn’t (and) wasn’t allowed to, and get arrested,” Keough, 35, said during the Wednesday, Jan. 15, episode Call Her Daddy Podcast..

Keough admitted that she has “never” publicly shared details of her burglary arrest as a teenager — and no, she’s never seen her photo.

“I was underage,” she said. “I had a nervous moment.”

Keo thought he was “going to a party at my friend’s house,” but things suddenly go awry.

“I didn’t know it wasn’t my friend’s house. It was a house for sale,” she explained. “The police came and most of the people got away. Then about 10 of us were arrested. My mother was angry.

Presley was in Las Vegas at the time of her daughter’s arrest.

“I had to call her and tell her to come back from Vegas and take me to jail,” Riley continued, noting that her aunt picked her up after the incident. “I’ve never told anyone that.”

While Presley was not satisfied with the actual arrest, the daughter of Elvis Presley wasn’t too pressed about divulging details.

“She said, ‘That’s up to you, girl,'” Riley recalled, laughing. “Luckily it didn’t get out – it wasn’t in the papers.”

The Daisy Jones and the Six however, the star had problems at home.

“I was suspended for about three months,” Riley said. “I got punished on my 16th or 15th birthday or something.”

Presley shared Riley and her late son Benjamin Keough (WHO died by suicide aged 27 in 2020) with ex-husband Danny Keough. Presley began writing his memoirs, From here to the great unknownbefore her death in January 2023. and Riley dropped the book posthumously in October 2024.

Riley reflected on her mom being an “amazing parent” during Wednesday’s podcast episode, but shared what she plans to do differently when raising daughter Tupelo. (Riley and husband Ben Smith-Petersen welcomed their child via surrogate in August 2022)

“I think the problem for some might be that when you’re used to so much, it’s hard to find joy in the simple things,” she said. “I really want my kids to be able to find joy and just play in the backyard and do normal kid stuff, not need like elephants and circuses and all that stuff all the time. I would probably do this differently. But I think her intention was to really want to give everything she could to her children.
