Resident of Chicago pushes back on the ‘not fair’ Sanctuary City policy

Sanctuary City Mayors are confronted with intensive research after their testimony for the congress, where they defended their opposition to the enforcement of federal immigration.

Resident P-Rae Easley in Chicago, who traveled to Washington before the hearing of the Huis Oversight Committee, expressed frustration about the handling of the migrant crisis by its city, with the argument that tax money should not be spent on people who entered the country illegally.

“Our goal is to protect our families, not to bypass people who chose to bypass our American immigration laws and sneak into our country,” Easley said on Wednesday “America reports. “

“It is not fair that they are held on a lesser standard than we are. It is as if they are special. And we want to know what these people make so special that they cannot be prosecuted, they get our tax dollars, they receive free housing, they receive free health care. It is as if we are in a disadvantage because we are citizens.”

She gratefully expressed the congress for throwing light on what she sees as mismanagement by democratic city leaders, including her own mayor.

“We have been in a situation where our tax dollars, resources and time are assigned to illegal aliens because our city is magnetized for illegal immigration by the policy of the sanctuary,” she said.

The mayors of Chicago, New York, Denver and Boston testified in front of the Huis Oversight Committee with regard to their response to President Donald Trump’s Immigration policy. Their testimony comes that many sanctuary are struggling with growing financial and logistical challenges related to the inflow of migrants.

Mayor of Chicago Brandon Johnson Defended the position of his administration and claimed that the deportation policy could increase crime by discouraging cooperation with law enforcement.

“All the actions that strengthen the fear of deportations make Chicago more dangerous,” Johnson told legislers. “Those fears ensure that witnesses and victims prevent them from working with the police. The cooperation of all people, regardless of their immigration status, is essential to achieve the goals of the city to reduce crime and pursue justice for victims.”

Johnson has repeatedly re -confirmed the status of Chicago as a sanctuary city and rejected the federal intervention. But residents such as Easley say that the policy places an unfair burden on taxpayers.

“We are not going to work to pay for illegal immigrants,” she said. “We are not fighting the snow and the rain and the heat to go to this world to pay taxes to pay the entire third world.”

Chicago has spent more than $ 638 million on his “New Arvals Mission“Financing housing, healthcare and other services for migrants. New York City is expected to spend $ 3.3 billion on the tax year 2025 to support the migrant population.

Easley, who identifies himself as an ‘eighth generation free American’, said she finds the priorities of the city ‘offensive’.

“It’s not fair for us, especially me as an American Negro woman. I am not an immigrant at all. So this is my business as a 100% eighth generation free American,” she said. “The laws and our sovereignty are not respected.”

Easley also pushed back against claims that opposition against sanctuary policy is racially motivated.

“They want to try to make this a racial issue, they want to try to make this xenophobic,” she said. “But by doing that, it ignores people like me who are not part of the white majority, but 100% Americans. We can’t stand for this.”
