Exclusive – the state of Texas, led by Republican attorney -general Ken PaxtonA vocal ally of Trump, a school district complains that just northwest of Dallas is illegal that he continues to teach illegally in a critical racing theory in his classrooms.
Critical racing theory – Also known for his acronym “CRT” – is a concept that learns racial bias inherent in parts of society and that discrimination is systematically embedded in certain aspects of law and policy.
The Paxton office said that the suit was launched in response to a video with Coppell Independent School District Director of Curriculum Evan Whitfield in which it was discussed how the district was “forbidden” about the use of CRT in state policy and curricula.
According to the court case, which was submitted today to the court of Dallas County, Whitfield further stated that “despite what our state standards say,” Coppell isd is “what is good”.

Teaching CRT violates one Texas Law that improves educators from kindergarten to twelfth year to teach that “one race or gender inherent is superior to another race or gender” or that “an individual, based on the race or gender of the individual, is inherently racist, sexist or oppressive.”
The same law also stipulates that no educator in the state may require a household name from the “1619 project”, a historical study founded by the writer of the New York Times Nikola Hannah-Jones This is trying to reformulate American history as founded and rooted in slavery. The project is marred with credible accusations of historical distortions and inaccuracies.
The law of Texas stipulates that an educator cannot learn that a person, because of his race or sex, bears responsibility, the guilt or guilt for actions committed in the past.
The law also prohibits teachers to impose the idea that meritocracy or properties such as a hard working ethic are racist or sexist or that the arrival of slavery in America was the true establishment of the United States, concepts that are often associated with the 1619 project.

According to the case, Whitfield “unambiguously stated that the policy of Coppell Independent School District is to teach curricula in violation of the state law and direction, the use of funds and other means of the district to develop and distribute to teach CRT curricula.”
The lawsuit further claims that Whitfield answered a question whether the district would get into trouble because he would violate the law by saying: “We have come around to say that we are not teaching it.”
The lawsuit claims that “when asked if the teacher can just close the door and” what is good “can teach, the defendant Whitfield replied:” Shh, that’s what we do. “
Paxton tries to have the court issued a permanent order, so that Coppell ISD officials do not use CRT and tax dollar funds to distribute CRT materials. Instead, Paxton says that Coppell ISD must implement a “color blind” curriculum in accordance with the Texas law.

This is not the first time that Coppell ISD has been sued for the illegal teaching of CRT.
The Texas ScorecardA conservative exhaust valve based in Texas reported in 2023 that a family from Northern Texas Coppell was killed after their 10th class son who was a student at the New Tech High School in Coppell ISD, a CRT-based assignment received by his chemical teacher. According to the Texas Scorecard, the teacher determined that students “research and write about various atomic theory scientists” and they could not choose “old, dead, white man”.

“Liberal managers who want to ignore the Studies Act and want to push division and racist CRT curiculum in classrooms are held responsible for their actions,” Paxton said. “My lawsuit is intended to end this illegal and hateful curriculum and immediately stop the blatant refusal to follow the State Act by certain coppell officials ISD.”
