Former Rangers Boss Ally McCoist believes that Frank Lampard is the man who revives Glasgow’s problematic giants.
Lampard’s stock has fallen to England after submissive stops at Everton and Chelsea, where he was written as responsible for the last weeks of the 2022-23 season that had managed the club for 18 months ago.
But it has made a strong impression with Coventry, and nine wins from the last 10 league games have seen them grow in the playoffs.
Lampard signed a two -and -a -half -year deal when he was appointed by The Sky Blues in November 2024, but this was not stopped by the McCoist from overthrowing him to take over the Ibrox.
Former Scottish striker, who managed the Rangers from 2011 to 2014, said Talksport bet: “Rangers should have gone for Frank Lampard before going to Coventry.
“I’ve said this for a while and I think it could be like Steven Gerrard in the way they came to the hunger club to succeed, as I always felt he was overly criticized for some of the results in his previous jobs. He seems to find his feet.”

Ferguson was placed in an intermediate charge in Rangers
Rangers was fired Philippe Clement last month and put Barry Ferguson on a temporary charge until summer.
The results continued to be mixed but enjoyed a Superb 3-1 win in Fenerbahce last week In the first leg of the Europa League-Round-of-16 tie.
“I have to admit that Barry Ferguson’s appointment surprised me. I thought it was a field,” the McCoist added. “I am a supporter of Rangers and I want the boys to do well, but he surprised me with the rest of the supporters – though that doesn’t mean we’re not all behind him.
“I wasn’t surprised about Philippe Clement to lose the job. I understand it, I personally thought he might have the opportunity because of their European results, but I can see why you will get the bag from the back of the queen and motherwell defeats.
“It’s so far from the Celtic in the league and outside the cup, the domestic market was not good enough. I was not surprised and I will never say that I am happy to see a manager fired, but I was not disappointed.”
Will Gerrard come back?
Gerrard has also been reported to return to Rangers, as he was guiding them to the title of Scottish Premiership in 2021 and the McCoist would not be opposed to it.
He said: “As for other candidates, Steven Gerrard returns he will not disappoint me, he knows the club well and has a point to prove.
“There is a reason for Rafa Benitez and Derek Mcinnes – Derek knows the club well and I would be happy with him, the ship may have sailed for him. I can guarantee you that with the new owners coming, the Rangers work will be intensely and hoped for them to be able to get it.
