Prithvi Shaw backed to become Indian cricket hero as Shane Watson responds to Kevin Pietersen’s post


Former Australian all-rounder Shane Watson has responded to Kevin Pietersen’s recent heartfelt note about talented Indian batsman Prithvi Shaw. Taking to social media, Pietersen spoke about the great success stories in the sport.

He suggested that Prithvi Shaw needs good people around him who can guide him on the right path. Pietersen further called Prithvi Shaw an extremely talented cricketer and hoped that he would have the right people to guide him.

If Prithvi Shaw has decent people around him who care about his long-term success, they’ll sit him down, tell him to get off social media and train his absolute backside to become super. It will put him back on the right path where past success can come back too talented to throw it all away,” Pietersen posted on X (ex Twitter).

Shane Watson responds to Kevin Pietersen’s heartfelt note on Prithvi Shaw

Shane Watson has now backed Kevin Pietersen and claimed that Shaw needs a group of good people around him to turn things around. He even suggested that if Shaw does all these things right, he can become one of the biggest heroes of Indian cricket.

“I totally agree that @KP24 Prithvi (Shaw) is such a precocious talent and this is all it takes to turn things around and be one of the biggest heroes of Indian Cricket,” Watson wrote on X.

Shane Watson spent a lot of time with Prithvi Shaw when he was assistant coach of Delhi Capitals. Shaw used to open the innings during that period. Watson has watched Shaw closely and is well aware of his strengths.

Prithvi Shaw is an extremely talented cricketer but he has been away from the Indian team selection for some time now. He last played a T20I in July 2021. Despite being an extremely talented cricketer, his form and fitness concerns have kept him away from success.

There are no bidders for Prithvi Shaw in IPL 2025 auction

The 25-year-old recently faced an embarrassment when he failed to find any takers in the IPL auction 2025. Shaw entered the auction with a base price of INR 75 lakh but did not find any bidders in the auction.

Prithvi Shaw played for Delhi Capitals till the last season. He played 8 matches in IPL 2024 and scored 198 runs at an average of 24.75 and a strike rate of 163.64. In all, he has played 79 matches in IPK and scored 1892 runs at an average of 23.95 and a strike rate of 147.47.
