Ukrainian President VolodyMyr Zenskyy avoided immediately and answered whether he believed president Donald Trump Supported Ukraine during a visit to the White House on Friday.
Zenskyy visits Washington in the midst of negotiations to end the war in Ukraine, and is expected to sign a mineral agreement on Friday that allows the American access to the minerals of Ukraine – in exchange for support that the US has provided the country since the Russia invasion in 2022.
When asked whether Zenskyy believed that Trump was on the side of Ukraine, Zenskyy told reporters on the Oval Office that he believed that the US is on the side of Ukraine and repeated the importance of stopping aggression of Russian President Vladimir Putin.
Zenskyy also emphasized the importance of the help of Europe during the conflict with Russia – which encouraged Trump to intervene and claim that American contributions were more important than that of Europe. But Zenskyy pushed back and said that wasn’t true.

Exact figures about financial aid in Ukraine vary slightly, depending on what is considered help. However, since 2022, the congress has appropriated $ 175 billion for Ukraine’s assistance, according to the Council for Foreign Relations.
In the meantime, all European help to Ukraine between January 2022 and December 2024 is approximately $ 138.7 billion, the German think tank that treasures the Kiel Institute, in which the US contributes $ 119.7 billion in the same time frame.
Tensions between Zenskyy and Trump have increased in recent weeks because the US has worked with Ukraine and Russia to promote peace negotiation. After American officials had met Russian officials in Saudi Aarabia on February 18 without Ukraine, Zenskyy told reporters that “no one behind our back decides.”

On Thursday, however, Trump did not double on that statement.
When asked if he was with his statement, he told reporters: “Did I say that? I can’t believe I said that. The next question.”
Trump also told reporters during the meeting with British Prime Minister Keir Starmer on Thursday that a peace negotiation was in the final phase, but he practiced caution for sharing details about a peace force in the region until a deal was completed.

“I think we are very well advanced on a deal,” said Trump. “But we have not yet closed a deal. So I don’t like to talk about peace enforcement until we have a deal. I love to get things done.”
Trump also said he did not expect Putin to violate an agreement to create peace with Ukraine.
“I don’t think he’s going to break his word,” Trump said on Thursday. “I don’t think he will be back if we close a deal. I think the deal will keep now.”
